Holy herpetic lesions Batman. It has indeed been a long time since I've updated. Maybe a month and a half isn't long to you but it feels pretty damn long to me. That's not to say that I haven't been doing anything. I've thought at least twice about updating my little journal-y thing here. That counts for something, right? RIGHT!? I have actually been doing quite a bit so I wanted to take a second to run it all down. We shot a short at the end of July called 'PLAN Z'. It was the zombie short I'd mentioned previously. It went. We had several large problems. I'm amused at how I considered this to be a short and sweet shoot. Logistically it was a nightmare and I'd never even considered it to be so involved from the outset. It was entirely an outdoor shoot during unpredictable and awful weather. I needed to recast one of my two major roles 36 hours before shooting. My zombie hoarde turned out to be four extras. I was only saved by the fact that family came out to help. None of the crew showed. I was working through editing it down, and admittedly was taking a little longer than I should have, when my hard drive crashed. I've still got all the footage and audio but I lost all my edits. So there's two weeks worth of work that I need to do over again. I started again last night and I like what I've got better than the previous cut so far. Once that's done I'll be posting it. I've continued on with preproduction on 'THE NEW FACE OF SECURITY'. The pitch to Ed Video was last night. I got my equipment funding to shoot it. I was going to shoot it anyway but it's nice to know I've got some solid equipment to do so. We've got some auditioning to do over the next two weeks since I lost one of my leads. I didn't get a chance to work on eithe rof those crews. It's unfortunate but I'll live. I did manage to get a little time in on a Crosland Sisters production. It was an interesting experience. I should be putting some hours in on some other indie sets in the near future. If for no other reason I'm intrigued to see how different people operate. I think I'm at the tenative beginnings of a new feature screenplay. I'm not 100% sure on it yet but I like what I've got so far. if I have the ideas to flesh it out I may shoot for feature length. If not I'll trim it back a bit and go for a short. I've been away for far too long but a new episode of the podcast has been recorded. I just need 90 free minutes and I'll get it edited down and posted. Should be hearing back from Praxis soon. Winners are to be announced in September. Holding my breath. Look at me. That's me... Holding my breath. david shute - Aug 27, 2009 at 3:18 PM |
